The parish church was dedicated on 6 November 1259 by Walter Bronescombe, Bishop of Exeter. Please follow this link to the official Chudleigh Parish Church website that contains information on the church, its services, activity and history. The website also has a searchable transcribed list of the existing gravestone inscriptions in the churchyard and within the church.

A postcard view of the church taken in about 1950

An illustration of the organ gallery by Rev. Orlando Hutchinson of Sidmouth dating to 1848

A photograph from the same gallery but looking toward the east window
as donated by John Williams Esq in memory of Rev. Gilbert Burrington.
Photo taken during the WW1 commemorations in August 2014

A particularly fascinating view of about 1868 – compare with the later view (below) and modern view (above).
The most obvious difference is the roof and that the Minton tiles on the east wall
that have long since been covered up. Look closely for other differences

A postcard voew of the chuch interior from 1910

A view from the tower looking east along the roof of the nave.
The roofs of the north aisle (left) and south aisle are also in view

The weather vane

A notice showing the 'Gifts to the Poor'.
It is not certain how old this board is, but we know that John Soper's gift
was made by will in 1622. The board is currently in storage

A notice board of the 1961–1970 period, currently stored in the clock chamber of the tower.
The latter two photographs are used courtesy of the late Mr Roger Brandon
